Chalakudy, Thrissur, Kerala: As part of the 2025 Onam celebrations, various Vana Samrakshana Samithis (VSS) of the Chalakudy Forest Development Agency organized several events.
Kottamalai-Valara VSS 25th Anniversary Celebration
An Onam kit distribution was held for the committee members of the Kottamalai-Valara VSS as part of its 25th anniversary. During the event, awards were given to the children of VSS members who achieved high marks on the SSLC exam. Senior VSS members were also honored. The event was led by Kottamalai VSS President, T.V. Lalappan, with speeches by several officials and members, including: Pariyaram Range Forest Officer, Jobin Joseph, Konnakkuzhi Forest Station Deputy Range Officer, Ranjith Raj, Ward Members Manu Paul and Sisi Krishnan, Section Forest Officer, P.V. Prashanth, and Vettilapara VSS Secretary, Ajeesh O.M. The Chalakudy FDA Coordinator, Prasitha E.P., gave a vote of thanks, and the program concluded with an Onam feast.
Karikkadavu Adivasi Vana Samrakshana Samithi
Onam kits, collected by NSS volunteers from Aloor, SNV VHSE, were distributed to committee members.
Randukai Vana Samrakshana Samithi
An Onam kit distribution was held on September 3, 2025, at the Randukai VSS office. The event was inaugurated by Chaipankuzhi Deputy Range Forest Officer, M.S. Suresh Kumar. K.K. Jaganivas, the committee secretary, welcomed everyone, and several others gave speeches, including Section Forest Officer K.C. Lijesh, committee president K.P.L. Baiju, and treasurer V.A. Joy.
Vettilapara Vana Samrakshana Samithi
An Onam kit distribution took place at the Vettilapara VSS office, where 110 families received Onam kits. This included 103 families from the Vettilapara VSS and other disadvantaged families. The members of the Rotary Club of Cochin Muzris City, North Paravur, also participated in an event at Elikkodu AVSS in 2025.
